Reasoning: The Athletics are 4-1 in Sonny Gray's last five starts against Texas. Gray is 4-2 with a 2.06 ERA in his career against the Rangers. Oakland has added Ben Zobrist, Billy Butler, Ike Davis, Brett Lawrie and Marcus Semien to its lineup. It also has been to the playoffs three straight seasons. The A's will take on a Texas club that went 67-95 last year. Adrien Beltre had just six homers and 26 RBIs after last season's All-Star break. And Yovani Gallardo, who went 8-11 with a 3.51 ERA in 2014, lost his lone career outing against Oakland in 2013 when he allowed five runs in six innings.

Josh Collmenter went 13 scoreless innings over three starts this spring. He closed 2014 with a 1.53 ERA in his final five starts and is 5-2 with a 3.17 ERA in 18 career games (seven starts) against San Francisco.
