NHL: Friday's play

Play: Washington/N.Y. Rangers over 4.5 -120

Time: 7 p.m. ET

TV: NBCSN

Reasoning: Neither team has faced a 4.5-goal total this season. A spate of unders is the reason why it's at this number, but I think those unders are unsustainable. Contests for both teams average more than 5.1 gpg overall and they average more than that in the home/away splits. The Capitals connect on 24.6% of their power plays and they kill only 82.4% of their penalties. New York averaged 3.02 gpg during the regular season on 31.5 shots per game. It is averaging 30.7 spg in the postseason and Washington has averaged 30.4 spg in 11 playoff tilts.

Record: 356-267-13 (57.1%)
Bankroll: +339.60%
